Course Overview

Get the training you need to earn your Arizona DPS Unarmed Guard Card quickly and affordably. This self-paced online course provides all the instruction you need to meet Arizona’s security guard licensing requirements.

How It Works

    Access the training online and complete the course at your own pace from any device.
  2. Get Your Guard Card Application
    Within 24 business hours after finishing the course, your instructor will email the Arizona Guard Card Application with the instructor section completed for you. Note: This course does not issue a separate training certificate.
  3. Submit Your Application
    • Fingerprinting: Complete the required fingerprinting for Arizona DPS.
    • Pay the Application Fee: $83.85 for unarmed or $134.95 for armed guard card.
    • Return Application to Instructor: Include a copy of your driver’s license or state-issued ID.  
  4. Receive Your Arizona DPS Guard Card
    Once approved, Arizona DPS will mail your guard card, enabling you to begin your career as a licensed security professional.

Arizona DPS requires all security guards to be licensed and complete a minimum of 8 hours of certified training.

Course Eligibility & Disqualifications

The Arizona DPS has strict eligibility requirements. You may not qualify for the unarmed guard card if:

  • You’re under 18
  • You aren’t a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • You have a felony conviction, even if set aside or your civil rights were restored
  • You’re currently under indictment for a felony
  • You have misdemeanors within the last 5 years related to:
    • Personal Violence
    • Weapons Misconduct
    • Dishonesty or Fraud
    • Arson, Theft, Domestic Violence, Narcotics, or Sexual Misconduct
